(More customer reviews)This is a well-made, versatile, attractive, almost-"professional" set which, if you look around for sales, offers a good deal for the money (mine was from Macey's, special $39.95).
Although the bottom unit is heavy enough to function nicely as an independant 3 qt. stockpot, the top unit should definitely not be used over direct heat (my only complaint).And I think the well-made glass lid is always a plus over a solid one.
The upper unit and steamer both have 2 qt. capacities.This size is about right for all "double boiling" or for steamimng moderate amounts of food, but might be a little small if you want to steam vegetables, etc. for more than 2 to 3 people on a regular basis.
